July Outreach Project

We are working with Helen's Hope Chest to help provide new school backpacks for foster kids.  We need backpacks for all ages!  (We do not need school supplies - just the backpacks!)  This Sunday, July 30, 2017, is the last day you can donate.  Please bring the backpacks and place them in the blue bin located right outside our church entrance.  If you can't get out to shop but want to help, simply write a check to St. Matthew's and put Helen's Hope Chest Backpacks on the memo line and leave it with the plate offerings on Sunday.

We can be more - we can do more!  Let's help prepare these wonderful kids for the new school year!

Breaking the Cycle of Food Insecurity

  • We partner with Matthew's Crossing, a non-profit food bank that started on the St. Matthew's campus
  • Our Youth prepare and serve sack lunches on the first Sunday of the month to the homeless in Central Phoenix - we call it PB&J, short for Peanut Butter and Jesus!

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

  • We partner with Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School, providing in-classroom reading assistance and tutoring to students, as well as working with the Art Masterpiece program bringing art into the classrooms
  • We work with Helen's Hope Chest by providing foster children with clothing, school supplies, books and more
  • We partner as a part of a larger Episcopal Church coalition with Habitat for Humanity to provide decent, affordable housing in the Phoenix Metro Area
  • Our literacy project provides books for children - partnering with Matthew's Crossing our volunteers have collected and distributed over 10,000 books to at-risk children

International Christian Relief

  • We partner as part of a larger Episcopal Church coalition with Habitat for Humanity to provide decent, affordable housing in Central and South America
  • We partner with Refugee Focus working to build sustainable relationships with refugees from such diverse places as Myanmar, Iraq, Somalia and Rowanda
