50 Years in Chandler - Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Future...

In the year of its 50th anniversary, Saint Matthew's parishioners will remember the past while celebrating the future. In 1955, church members with vision for the future reestablished our congregation on Saint Matthew's Day. The downtown building was sold, and the proceeds helped to purchase approximately two acres of farmland, then outside the city limits, at our present site on Erie Street.

In 2005, we will join in fellowship to worship and walk on the farmland on which we will build our future. The New Site Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 6th on Germann Road just east of McQueen Road in Chandler. This 30+ acre property was donated to the Diocese of Arizona for the purpose of building a new Episcopal Church in Chandler. On this day, there will not be any services held at the Erie Street location. There will be a combined worship service with live music from our band and participation from our choir at our new site. The day's events are as follows:

8:30 a.m. Buses begin from Tumbleweed Park to Germann Road Site

9:00 a.m. Live Contemporary Music begins

10:00 a.m. Worship Service begins under covered seating

11:30 a.m. Lunch, fellowship and activities

2:20 p.m. Last bus leaves the Germann Road Site to Tumbleweed Park

This bilingual celebration will be held on cultivated farmland. As such, the atmosphere of this event will be casual. Along with a catered lunch, there will be kids' activities and memorabilia from years past to see. The New Site Celebration is one of the many ways that Saint Matthew's continues to Grow As God's Family. This is a once in a lifetime event that you will not want to miss. Please make plans to join us for this exciting Celebration!

5th Anniversary Spanish Speaking Ministry Celebration a Great Success

Over 300 people attended the Spanish Speaking Ministry's 5th Anniversary Celebration on the afternoon of September 25th, 2005. Thanks to all who attended. This Celebration would not have been possible without your continued support these past five years. We hope you enjoyed the Ballet Folklorico, piņatas, Mexican food and fellowship. You are always invited to join us any Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for our Spanish Service.

Pony Express Program is a Success

Thanks to the efforts of the parishioners of Saint Matthew's, the church's financial campaign, The Pony Express, has come to a successful conclusion. Special thanks are extended to Susan and Gene Doswell, General Managers of The Pony Express Campaign, and the group of dedicated volunteers they assembled. All volunteer worked very hard to complete their assignment and helped make the campaign a success. Each family who completed their part of the "ride" to keep the saddlebag moving was also key to the success of the campaign. Thanks to your efforts and generosity, the next 50 years is off to a great start!
