50 Years in Chandler - Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Future...
In the year of its 50th anniversary, Saint Matthew's parishioners will remember the past while celebrating the future. In 1955, church members with vision for the future reestablished our congregation on Saint Matthew's Day. The downtown building was sold, and the proceeds helped to purchase approximately two acres of farmland, then outside the city limits, at our present site on Erie Street.
In 2005, we will join in fellowship to worship and walk on the farmland on which we will build our future. The New Site Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 6th on Germann Road just east of McQueen Road in Chandler. This 30+ acre property was donated to the Diocese of Arizona for the purpose of building a new Episcopal Church in Chandler. On this day, there will not be any services held at the Erie Street location. There will be a combined worship service with live music from our band and participation from our choir at our new site. The day's events are as follows:
8:30 a.m. Buses begin from Tumbleweed Park to Germann Road Site
9:00 a.m. Live Contemporary Music begins
10:00 a.m. Worship Service begins under covered seating
11:30 a.m. Lunch, fellowship and activities
2:20 p.m. Last bus leaves the Germann Road Site to Tumbleweed Park
This bilingual celebration will be held on cultivated farmland. As such, the atmosphere of this event will be casual. Along with a catered lunch, there will be kids' activities and memorabilia from years past to see. The New Site Celebration is one of the many ways that Saint Matthew's continues to Grow As God's Family. This is a once in a lifetime event that you will not want to miss. Please make plans to join us for this exciting Celebration
