Pilgrim's Way for Youth

Have you ever wanted to participate in a worship experience that is created by young adults for young adults? Have you thought about taking worship in a path never taken before? From June 13 to 17 Saint Matthew's high school students will be walking the Pilgrim's Way and creating worship. The creative process is fueled by the fire of questions. Do ancient Christian practices still have any meaning for us today? Does The Book of Common Prayer give us any latitude to be creative and unique? Does pop culture have any place in worship? How do I incorporate the music and film that speaks to me into my Sunday experience? Each evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. we will spend time exploring and experimenting. Several guests who have experience with creative worship will gather with us to dialog about worship. In the middle of the week we will travel to Yarnell to walk the Pilgrim's Way of the Stations of the Cross at St. Joseph's and experience creative worship out of doors.Through the generous gift of an anonymous donor Saint Matthew's now has the technology to create worship that is on the edge and glorifies God in a language of experience yet to be spoken. If you are in high school and would like the opportunity to participate in the Pilgrim's Way please contact Gil Stafford at gil@saintmatthewchurch.org. You do not need special skills or experience. All the training will be provided and you can participate in a variety of ways. This is a hands on experience.

Vacation Bible School

Saint Matthew's is hosting a Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer from June 13 to 17. The theme this year is "Kingdom of the Son: A Prayer Safari." Each morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. children will be busy making crafts, playing water games, singing African bible songs, and learning about Jesus Christ in daily bible lessons and activities. The cost is $15 per child, and this includes daily crafts, a music CD, a t-shirt containing the VBS design, and daily snacks. The children will also participate in a service project to collect food donations for Saint Matthew's Food Bank. Vacation Bible School promises to be a week filled with fun, excitement, and learning. Pre-Kindergarten children (must be age 4 by June 1st) up to those just completing sixth grade are eligible to attend. Please stop by the church office and fill out an application. See you on safari!
