Mission 34 is the youth group for 3rd and 4th graders! It is Saint Matthew's newest addition to Youth Ministry, and it's a great introduction for kids to learn how youth group works.
What exactly will the group do on Sunday night? Sunday night youth group is a time where kids can hang out, have fun, enjoy fellowship, interact with caring adult leaders, and also learn more about how faith applies to everyday life. In the words of one youth leader, "It's a chance for kids to meet cool people and learn about God. They will experience faith and have fun doing it."
When does Mission 34 happen? The group meets concurrently with our other youth groups from 5:00 to 7:00pm on the 3rd Sunday night of every month.
Do I have to sign up? Not exactly. Anyone who comes to a youth event is welcome. However, for safety and organization we do keep contact information for each youth group member. At your first visit to Mission 34 we will collect your information.
Are there any costs? Besides special outings or off-campus events (like going bowling) there is no cost to be a part of Mission 34. Saint Matthew's offers scholarships for certain events in the case of shown financial need.
Who chaperones Mission 34? Appropriate adult supervision is always provided at any youth or children's event at Saint Matthew's. Two screened and trained adults, at minimum, will be in attendance for any gathering. For events that require transportation or extra help, additional chaperones are often parents or church staff.
Am I welcome to stop by and check it out? Always! Parents are welcome to stop by and see what Mission 34 is all about; however, regular attendance by a parent is not suggested. We want your child to feel free to be himself/herself.
How will I know what events are happening with Mission 34? You will receive mailings about any off campus events along with a permission slip required for your child to participate. We will also send newsletters with any addition information about special events. Feel free to contact staff member/coordinator Mandy Hodges with any questions at any time.
