Finding Your Way around
Sanctuary
This is our main place of worship. Services occur every Sunday at 7:30, 9:00 and 11:00 AM. Most funerals and weddings also occur in this space unless our Chapel is requested for a more intimate setting. We also host concerts throughout the year and the sanctuary is available as a recital venue. A detailed map can be found below.
SMEC Chapel
The Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church Chapel (SMEC Chapel) began construction on April 4, 1958 and was the primary place of worship before the new sanctuary was consecrated in 2018. The SMEC Chapel offers a smaller, intimate setting and continues to be used for Children’s Chapel, adult education classes and Wednesday noon prayer. Funerals and private ceremonies may be held here for a more intimate setting.

Our Sanctuary
-
Sacristy
A room where service preparations are done. Vestments and other things used in worship are kept here.
-
Chancel
The part of a church near the altar, reserved for the clergy.
-
Nave
The central part of a church building, intended to accommodate most of the congregation. In traditional Western churches it is rectangular, separated from the chancel by a step or rail.
-

A distinct area marking the entrance to the church.
-
Family Rest Area
An alternative and comfortable area for families to utilize as needed.
-
DIGITAL OFFICE
This is our Communications Director’s office and houses the church’s sound system.
-
MUSIC OFFICE
This is our Music Director’s office. Hard copies of music in addition to choir vestments are kept here.
-
Musicians Area
This is the central hub for our musicians. Our traditional choir, grand piano and pipe organ lift this area in song at our 9:00 AM service and our Christian praise band, State of Grace, plays songs of praise at our 11:00 AM service.
-
Stained Glass
Our campus is filled with heart warming art, inside and out. Several windows in the SMEC chapel are adorned with scenes from the bible and it is virtually impossible to miss the breathtaking stained glass that brings to life the north side of our sanctuary.
