Outreach Opportunities
October, November & December Giving Opportunities
This giving season, Saint Matthew’s invites you to share the joy of the holidays with those in our community. Our Outreach Committee has three special opportunities to give: in October, we’ll collect Thanksgiving meal items for Matthew’s Crossing to provide holiday dinners for families in need; in November, we’ll gather gift cards for Helen’s Hope Chest so teens in foster care feel remembered and celebrated at Christmas; and on the first two Sundays of Advent, we’ll collect new, unwrapped toys to bring laughter, love, and hope to children facing life-threatening medical challenges. Monetary donations are always welcome to support these efforts, and physical items can be brought to our Narthex while each drive is active. Let’s come together to brighten the season for those who need it most.

The Feast Day of St. Matthew
Sunday, September 21 - All Services
Join us in celebration of the Feast Day of St. Matthew by wearing red! St. Matthew, for whom our church is named, was a tax collector before being called by Jesus to follow Him. Often depicted in Christian art with a tax collector's booth or a pen and book, Matthew is recognized as the author of the Gospel of Matthew and provides a detailed account of Jesus’ life, teachings, death, and resurrection, emphasizing His role as the Messiah. As the patron saint of tax collectors, accountants, and bankers, Saint Matthew’s feast day is a time to reflect on his contributions to the early Christian community. How can we follow Jesus? Consider putting your time and talent to work with a ministry at Saint Matthew’s. Meet someone new at coffee hour, sign up to read, explore a study group you haven’t attended, or start your own group if you don’t find a topic or time that suits you. Rejoice in the Holy Spirit and follow your calling!

The cost to send one child to camp this past summer was $495, but with the support of our church community, we can help make this life-changing experience possible. Kids learn to be kind and brave, and make friends who also love "Jesus Loves Me." Our engaging classes keep even the squirmiest kids interested. As we gear up for our Sunday School kickoff, we’re excited to welcome your little ones from PreK to 6th grade for fun and meaningful lessons.
Reflection Time with Rev. Monica
Sunday, August 10, 10:15 AM - Chapel
This fall, Saint Matthew’s will begin sampling readings from A Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church by the Rev. Dr. Wilda C. Gafney—a bold and thoughtful resource that highlights often-overlooked biblical voices, especially women who prophesied in ancient Israel and the Afro-Asiatic world.
Join Rev. Monica on Sunday, August 10 for a special reflection and Q&A time as we explore how Dr. Gafney’s translations offer us new ways of hearing and responding to God’s Word. This is a space for open-hearted conversation, thoughtful questions, and shared insight as we integrate this lectionary into select worship services this fall.
Help Families in Need – Chandler CARE Center Supply Drive!
Now through August 31
Let’s rally together to support families in need right here in Chandler. These families need our help now more than ever.

Place your donations in the blue bin in the narthex now through August 31!
Your generosity will directly support families served by the Chandler CARE Center, a school-based resource hub offering free medical care, counseling, social services, and more to help children stay healthy, in school, and ready to learn.
Let’s show up with kindness and compassion—every bottle helps!
Diamondbacks Faith and Family Night 2025
Friday, August 8, 6:30 PM - Chase Field
Join the D-backs and other churches across Arizona at Chase Field as we participate in the annual Faith & Family Night on Friday, August 8th. We are doing things a little differently this year; instead of buying tickets separately, the diocese will place a group order. This will ensure that we are all sitting together and not spread out in the section. Tickets in this section are $45. The last day to order tickets in this section is Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Summer Coffee Hour
Mini Coffee Hour Resumes in August
Our Vestry Member of the Day is keeping the coffee flowing through July—so your Sunday caffeine fix is covered! As we look ahead to August, we’re inviting you to be part of the fun. While our regular Coffee Hour teams take a well-deserved summer break, Mini Coffee Hour will resume—offering a simpler version of our usual spread.
You can help keep the hospitality going by signing up to bring a treat or lend a hand. It’s an easy and meaningful way to connect, contribute, and share some sweetness with your church family.
Regular Coffee Hour returns on Sunday, September 7, and we’re also looking for folks to join one of our regular teams (each team serves two Sundays in a row, about eight times a year from September to May).
