Charles Andrew Jerdee

September 30, 1927 – Alan Phillip Sandberg was born in Waukegan, Illinois, to Veronica Alieska and Earl William Sandberg. In 1927, his father, Earl, died in an accident. In 1930, Chalres was baptized Charles Andrew Jerdee after his mother married Adolf Jerdee. He served in World War II – Merchant Marines (Atlantic crossing, Africa and Italy) and in U.S. Army stationed in Alaska. He received B.S. and Masters degrees from Illinois State where he lettered in football and golf and is in the Illinois State Football Hall of Fame. He taught and coached football in Illinois for 10 years. He later moved to Chandler, Arizona when he and taught and coached at Chandler High School for 31 years. In 1993 he married Nancy Ryan Jerdee. Beloved father to Barry, Randy and Andrew Jerdee; and step father to David and Tim Hall and Susan Hall Jerdee Omerza and Grand and great grandfather to 23. He was a Rotarian, loved golf, dancing, swimming, cooking, gardening, fishing and travel.

Chuck loved his family and was proud of all of them. He was a member of St. Matthew’s since 1960.
