Christmas gift wrapping
Consider these simple options to make gift giving this holiday season easier on the environment with these tips from creation care.
Reduce:
Maybe you can get away without wrapping some of your gifts this year...maybe hide some for the recipient to find. Or consider wrapping gifts in a new towel (the dollar stores have simple white cotton ones). This form of wrapping gives the recipient a little bonus gift.
Reuse:
Sections of the Sunday paper are always a great way to wrap a gift. Those pages make for a lovely package when adorned with a sprig of evergreen. Christmas tree lots will give you their clippings for free.
Recycle:
If you decide you need to wrap gifts with wrapping paper, please choose one that is recyclable. Papers with flocking or metallic designs are often not recyclable. It is also necessary to remove all tape before putting wrapping paper in the recycle bin. Jute and raffia are great choices for ribbon since they are both biodegradable.
