Music, Culture & Encountering God Presented by Deacon Sally Niles

Have you heard the phase “I am spiritual but not religious”? How does music create openings for faith formation? How are we listening and hearing God in pop culture as well as contemporary Christian music settings? How can we as Christians, help point to the “Kingdom of God” for others in our conversations with seekers using music as a common ground to explore faith?

 You're invited to join Deacon Sally for an interactive presentation and workshop which will provide self reflection of one’s own faith journey through the music of our lives. We will also explore different and new ways others hear and envision God in traditional hymns and in secular songs.

 Together, we will examine creative prayer practices for experiencing God in contemplative meditation, in movement of breath & body and in the expressive arts of journaling using hymns and song lyrics.
