Saint Matthew’s is a dues-paying member of Valley Interfaith Project (VIP), a nonpartisan group of congregations that organize to hold local government officials accountable for addressing pressing community problems. VIP’s current focus is on mental health services, affordable senior and workforce housing, and community safety.
VIP is organizing a major county wide action meeting on October 24, 6:30 to 8:00pm at Shepherd of the Hills United Church of Christ in central Phoenix. VIP will present its agenda to invited candidates for elected office from both parties, determine where they stand, and try to get commitments from these public officials to work with us on these issues.
We need to show up in big numbers to demonstrate that VIP is an organized force to be recognized as a partner in addressing these community problems. We will organize carpools from Saint Matthew’s to provide transportation for those who need it. Come and see nonpartisan democracy in action!
You can sign up to attend, Sunday mornings, at the table in the church courtyard or online at the following link.
