Serving in our service

One of the biggest impacts you can make on our ministry is signing up to serve at a Sunday service. We’re always looking for new volunteers to help from reading to greeting people at the door. Everyone is welcome to serve in our worship services.

Lay Reader

Parishioners are encouraged to participate in our services by being involved with readings. A parishioner is anyone who regularly attends Sunday worship with us. Baptism within the Christian community is preferred but not required. There are several opportunities each week from the Old Testament through the Prayers of the People. We utilize signup genius to keep track of who is serving each week and request you sign up for no more than two readings per month. Secure your spot today!

SMECLem

Lay Eucharistic minister

A Lay Eucharistic Minister or Chalice Bearer helps our priests serve communion by offering the chalice or blood of Christ. They typically do a reading the same day but this is not required. We ask that Lay Eucharistic Ministers be either confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. Adults and confirmed Youth, 7th grade and up, are welcome to serve.

Ushers & Greeters

Our ushers and greeters are often the first people you see when you walk in the door Sunday morning. These volunteers pass the offering plate, help visitors to find their way around and feel comfortable, hand out bulletins, assist with weekly offerings and keep track of weekly Sunday attendance.

Acolytes

Youth (ages 9-14) serve as Acolytes during our 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM worship services. They are trained to assist the clergy during the Sunday services by leading the procession, carrying the cross or a torch and assisting at the altar. The word acolyte comes from the Greek word "akolouthos" which means a servant or helper who waits on another.

Music Ministry

All parishioners are invited to give their musical gift to God. Our services are praise, not performance centered and we welcome newcomers with open arms. Our 9:00 service features a traditional choir with piano, organ and handbell music while our 11:00 is more upbeat, featuring a contemporary Christian band.
